Hi guys! I hope you have been having a great week so far. Here in NYC the weather has been a little cold and rainy but as long as the rain isn’t too bad, I personally love it. There is nothing like sipping on some hot coffee with your headphones in, plugging away at your keyboard while the rain pitter patters at the window outside.
It would be easy to start off this post by saying how gross the weather has been and wishing it was summer but I want to start thinking differently. We all know the Debbie Downers of the world who start every sentence with a complaint or something negative. “Ugh my lunch sucked” or “Ugh it’s so gross outside.” Sometimes I find myself doing that and I hate it.
There is so much cool shit to talk about. Why dwell on the bad? That is sort of what inspired this blog title and my outfit. With all the clouds in the world, I want to be a ray of light for all my friends, family and co workers. No one is magnetized to dull!!
Which brings me to my outfit. For about two years now I have been obsessed with monochromatic looks! Monochromatic is when you wear almost identical colors on the top and bottom part of your outfit. Then you can throw in a pop of color in your accessories if you’d like! I personally love wearing all gray, black or brown outfits and then doing a vibrant pop of color but the more bold people wear completely vibrant outfits. To each their own. 🙂
Monochromatic looks are fun because they take what could be an average outfit and elevate them to something more fashion forward. For example, I could have worn a pair of blue jeans with this outfit and it would have been okay but these gray Uniqlo trousers take the outfit to the next level.
I chose to pair this groutfit (gray outfit), with a fun yellow knit hat and I love how it turned out. The yellow is funky but not too loud and it looks so good with the gray.
Ever since I started growing my hair out last year, I have been through a LOT of awkward hair stages. Wearing beanies has been my saving grace and also has become part of my every day uniform. Now it’s like I need one each day to complete my outfit! I bought this one in London last year on a trip with my boyfriend from COS and I loved it so much that I bought it in orange when we returned. I have a pretty small head so sometimes hats look too big or they could be too small and run the risk of it looking like I stole it from a baby in a stroller. No bueno!
I am not usually a sneaker guy but throwing on a pair of white Adidas just felt so right for this outfit.
I hope you guys have a great rest of your week! And remember, even if the sun doesn’t come out, that doesn’t mean you can’t bring the positive energy to the world. 🙂
Ciao for now,
