In case you haven’t realized, I have been pretty inconsistent with posting on here (yikes!) As it turns out- working a job that requires you to look and talk about clothes all day on the computer doesn’t make you want to run home to look and talk about clothes at the computer…
However, all of that is about to change as I make my way into the 1 year Anniversary of The Dean’s List! I started out posting on this blog once a week and that’s the way I’d like to keep it. 🙂
I’ll save what I learned my first year blogging and blah blah blah for another time but here’s a small hint- it’s harder than I thought.
Since the weather has been so beautiful, it is the perfect time to wear your late summer favorites. A striped t-shirt is a great staple to have in your wardrobe. It can be dressed up with a blazer for a business casual look or tuck it in with a belt for a cute polished look like I did here.
Also I’m wearing one of my favorite rule breakin’ color combos- black and brown.
Accessories can make or break an outfit. My co workers and I have joked that we all have that one hat that we are slightly embarrassed to wear in public. This would be that hat for me! (lol)
My advice with a new risky accessory that makes you feel slightly uncomfy is to know your surroundings and own it. I work at a pretty artistic and fashion forward company where risk taking is appreciated and encouraged.
I probably wouldn’t wear this hat at a Cubs game though…ya feel me?
I started wearing penny loafers in high school and since then they have been my go to for every season.
I’ve probably worn these Frye loafers 800 times since I bought them 4 years ago but I refuse to trade them in for a new pair! They’re such high quality that even though I’ve worn them so much- they still look great! Also you can get your shoes shined at Nordstrom for under $5!
I would say shoes are the one thing that you shouldn’t be frugal with. Trendy clothes you can *kind of* get away with being cheap but shoes??? NOPE! There’s nothing more uncomfortable than feeling like your shoes might fall a part all day…
Personally I like to stick to more distressed styles that way I don’t have to worry about up keep so much!
For this shoot my photographer Melissa and I went to one of my favorite places in Chicago- A New Leaf. If you’ve never been, it is a florist/event space full of beautiful plants and a gorgeous courtyard.
If you follow my Instagram- @deandaneluzzi you know that I LOVE plants. This place is full of the cutest plants and potters and if you ever need any design inspo or just inspiration in general- this place is definitely worth the trip!
Ciao for now,
