WEEKENDER

As much of a “city guy” as I am, nothing beats getting away for the weekend and seeing how the other half lives.

Since I grew up in Staten Island NY- our weekend trips mostly consisted of going to the Jersey Shore.  However, since moving to Chicago 5 years ago, I have grown accustomed to the lake life…

My roommate in college was from a small town in Iowa so every few weeks during the summer we would take the Megabus and visit.  Since I don’t have any relatives in Chicago, it’s always nice being around friend’s families.

This Fourth of July, I took a last minute trip to my friend’s lake house in Lake Paw Paw, Michigan.

It finally dawned on me why people are so obsessed with “Pure Michigan.”

Between the gorgeous sunsets on the lake, great people and the feeling of being carefree- I am a HUGE fan of the place.

*What I love about weekend trips is that you don’t have to plan them too far in advance.  They’re perfect for people who wait until last minute like me!*

This is the perfect “weekend away” look.  These Levi shorts are a little longer than the ones that I normally wear.  Since I was going to a lake in Michigan, I figured it was best to leave the booty shorts in Chicago. 😉

I like to keep it pretty casual when I am going to unfamiliar territory.

The perfect Weekend Bag includes

  • 2 Classic White T-Shirts
  • Denim Shorts
  • Corduroy shorts
  • Blue Oxford Shirt
  • Flip Flops
  • Bathing Suit
  • Sunglasses
  • Sneakers
  • Headphones
  • Track Jacket (for the cool nighttime)
  • Lastest GQ Magazine

I encourage everyone with “itchy feet” to request time off work and reach out to those friends of yours living in other cities!  You’ll never fully appreciate what you have until you see what else is out there.  🙂

Ciao for now,

Dean
