70 degrees and sunny here in Chicago today and I couldn’t be happier. One of my favorite places to go in the nice weather is Lincoln Park. Between the zoo, conservatory and the beach so close together, it is the perfect place to go on a nice day. Since I started work at 1 pm today, I had all morning to myself. I decided to hit up my favorite spot and enjoy some fresh air before the 9 hour work day. Since the weather was so nice, I went with a lighter, casual look. There will definitely be the time for layers in Chicago but today was not one of them.
This look was inspired by a girl I saw in a coffee shop. I loved the army green jacket for fall contrasting against her crisp white Adidas sneakers. I should also note that I get inspired by women’s outfits all the time. It’s pretty hard not to considering I work with over 200 stylish women.
For the longest time I was looking for a pair of clear or matte clear sunglasses. They’re really trendy right now and add a pop of fun to any outfit. The only problem is that I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that could be out of style in a month. I always try to spend my money on timeless, classic pieces rather than trendy ones. I went on a mission to find a cheap pair because I knew they were out there. As I walked down the shops of Armitage Avenue, I kept finding ones that were too big for my face or too expensive. It wasn’t until one salesperson recommended the store Art Effect that I found this awesome pair on sale for $30! What I like about them is that they’re not too big and also they’re this bendy rubber-like material.
One thing that every guy should have in his closet is an army jacket. They’re perfect for fall and add ruggedness to a look. Mine is from a thrift store and what I like about it is that it fits more like a shirt rather than a jacket. It can look good with a button down layered under it or a jacket layered over it.
One hidden treasure that I love in Chicago is the Urban Outfitter’s Surplus store. It is basically a huge Urban outlet where things are dirt cheap. Adidas sneakers are one of those trendy fads that are cool right now but might be out of style next year. I found these sneakers at the Urban Surplus for only $15 and couldn’t pass them up!
